The charity dinner was organized to provide aid to the children of Ukraine who are inflicted by the current war and also to raise funds in support of the needs of the "Attikon" General University Hospital’s Neonatology. It is important to say that Prof. Dr. Afksendiyos Kalangos, great friend of Their Royal Highnesses, and a big philanthropist, together with his surgical team members, welcomed the appeal from HRH Crown Princess Katherine, and will voluntarily operate on children who came from Ukraine with heart disorders at the IASO Paediatric Clinic in Greece, to save their lives.

During the event, the attendees were also informed about the latest significant project of the organization - the extension of the department of the Neonatal Unit at Elena Venizelou State Hospital which was inaugurated on Monday, 11 July, in the presence of HRH Crown Princess Katherine and the Greek Minister of Health, HE Mr. Athanasios Plevris. The first charity marathon of Lifeline, under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports, that will take place on 5 September 2022, at the Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens "Spiros Louis", was also announced as a near future plan.

”I am very grateful to all wonderful people who supported this event and help the work of Lifeline Greece, to all donors for their tremendous, continuous support, and for recognizing the importance of providing to others.

There is no greater joy in life than the joy of giving. My parents, who were great philanthropists, taught me that at my early age, by their example. I want to encourage as many people as possible to see themselves what joy you feel when you provide to others, to those in need. And that is something we need to teach our children as well and to give them the opportunity to contribute so they can feel the joy of giving, and it becomes a part of their whole life.

By supporting the children of Ukraine and providing to Neonatology at the "Attikon" General University Hospital, you have made it possible for many young lives to be saved. You have made a great difference”, said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.
