CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE BRINGS MUCH-NEEDED HELP TO THE SREMČICA INSTITUTION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH

TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine, Mrs Betty Roumeliotis, the Crown Princess’s sister, visited the Sremčica Institution for Children and Youth in Belgrade today, together with Mr. Nikola Vukelić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, as well as Mrs. Donna Sekulic and Mrs. Melanie Sever, members of the Board of Directors of the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago. During the visit, a much-needed donation was delivered to the women’s section of the Institution.

This humanitarian effort was made possible thanks to the generosity of The John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich Foundation, which has supported institutions in Serbia for more than a decade, with the assistance of Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago and the Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade.

The donation included new mattresses, waterproof mattress covers, bedding, pillows, and blankets for the women’s pavilion, which accommodates up to 90 residents. These items will make a tangible difference in everyday life, improving comfort, hygiene, and overall living conditions for the women who live there.

Dr. Marina Vidojević, Acting Director of the Sremčica Institution for Children and Youth, expressed her gratitude for the donation: “This support means a great deal to our institution and, above all, to the women who live here. The new mattresses and bedding will greatly improve their daily comfort and quality of life. We are sincerely grateful to HRH Crown Princess Katherine, Lifeline Chicago, and The Wuchenich Foundation for their continued care and kindness.”

Speaking about the importance of continued humanitarian engagement, HRH Crown Princess Katherine said: “Everyone deserves to live with dignity and care. Supporting institutions like this means ensuring that children who need special attention are not forgotten. This is why I am deeply thankful to The John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich Foundation for its generosity and long-standing commitment to helping people in Serbia, as well as to Lifeline Chicago for making this donation possible. Together, we can continue to improve the lives of these children, giving them comfort, security, and hope for the future.
