Lifeline New York Board Member Cheri Kaufman is Keynote Speaker at UN General Assembly

Cheri Kaufman, Board Member and Vice President of Lifeline New York, was a keynote speaker at the 2016 Youth Assembly at the United Nations. The 2016 Youth Assembly theme was Transforming Our World: The Role of Youth in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Ms. Kaufman’s speech focused on the important role of philanthropy in today’s global environment.
In Ms. Kaufman’s address she states, “From an early stage in my life, I have endeavored to translate my idealism, curiosity, tenacity and energy, qualities I perceive in all of you, into rewarding involvement with charities, philanthropies and arts organizations that foster cultural understanding and global cooperation. Philanthropy is the down payment one generation makes to secure a better world for the next, in other words, philanthropy is the very currency of sustainability.”
HRH Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia, Patron of Lifeline New York attended the day’s sessions and Ms. Kaufman’s presentation, stating “There is energy and passion at this conference and it is inspiring to see the commitment and involvement in charity by the Youth Assembly members. It is essential that our youth remain engaged in tackling these important issues.”
Ms. Kaufman has been a long term supporter of Lifeline New York and the humanitarian aid that HRH Crown Princess Katherine administers in Serbia, sharing that “the heart, passion and tremendous dedication that Princess Katherine has for her foundation’s work has been inspiring to those of us who serve as Board Members of Lifeline New York.”
Ms. Kaufman is a founding partner of Kaufman Astoria Studios and also serves on the UN Women for Peace Committee and the board of MoMA, and has been on the boards of the Asia Society, Lenox Hill Hospital and the First New York Bank for Business.
