ROYAL COUPLE TAKE PART IN BELGRADE “SPASOVDAN” PROCESSION
Belgrade, 25 May 2017 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine attended today, on the Ascension of Our Lord Day – Spasovdan, the City of Belgrade’s Slava, a Liturgy at the Church of the Ascension, and took part in the traditional Spasovdan Procession through the streets of Belgrade.
The Divine Liturgy at the Church of Ascension was officiated by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, and the procession through Belgrade started at the Church of Ascension in Admirala Geprata Street, then went to Kneza Milosa Street, Kralja Milana Street, followed by the first prayer for the wellbeing of the citizens of Belgrade near the Terazije Fountain. The procession then continued to Knez Mihailova Street and King Peter’s Street, to the Cathedral Church of St. Michael the Archangel, where the second prayer for peace and progress was said. After that, the procession went to Kneza Sime Markovica Street, and ended in front of the Church of Ascension where a church service was held in memory of all fallen heroes of Belgrade.
Later in the day, Their Royal Highnesses will attend the official ceremony marking of Belgrade’s Slava at the Old palace (City hall) on invitation of Mr. Andreja Mladenovic, Deputy Mayor of Belgrade.
