Children’s Hospital Of Pittsburgh Of UPMC And University Children’s Hospital Of Belgrade Hold First Pediatric Teleconsult

The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and the University Children’s Hospital of Belgrade held their first joint telemedicine consultation for a complicated pediatric case. The consultation was made possible through a collaborative partnership with the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center), which leverages video conferencing technology to seamlessly connect Pediatric Specialists from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to various Hospital locations around the globe.

This partnership was championed by former Ambassador to Serbia, Michael Kirby, HRH Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia, Dr. Robert Friedlander, Chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery at UPMC and Natasa Sokolovich, Executive Director of Telehealth at UPMC.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia states “Anything is possible when there is good will. I am honored by the support that this great partnership has received and we are looking forward to continued success with the Telemedicine Center.  Our dedicated Serbian Doctors face considerable challenges and my Foundation continually seeks ways to support them by finding ways to advance training and education. I am so grateful to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC for their support.”

Funding for this project came in part thru fundraising activities by the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization, whose Patron is HRH Crown Princess Katherine.
