ROYAL COUPLE AT THE SECOND PANOWINE GATHERING
Topola, 26 May 2017 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine were the guests the “Second Panwine Gathering” organized by the “Wine Routes of Serbia” and the “Wine Routes of Croatia” associations at the Royal Winery in Oplenac. The gathering was attended by organizations and individuals from the countries that belong to the “Pannonian Wine Corridor”.
Themes of the “Second Panowine Gathering”, which will last until Sunday 28 May, will be the cultural and historical heritage of the Karadjordjevic Dynasty, hunting and gastronomy in Sumadija and establishing friendly cooperation between municipalities and citizens' associations in this area of business.
Royal winery was built in 1931 in the style of French basement and is located in the middle of royal vineyards in Topola. After six decades of decline, the Endowment of King Peter I began the revitalization of the royal vineyards. On the Oplenac hill, right next to the Mausoleum in Oplenac, there have been 11 hectares of vineyards, a winery in the King began production of high quality wine from Oplenac.
After visiting the winery, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine visited the church of St. George and the Foundation of King Peter I in Oplenac.
